The World Of Scams

My first real encounter with sammers happened sometime in my early teens when I first aquired instagram. I’d started friending bunches of people, interacting with my friends, and of course making posts of my own. However, as anyone who’s ever used instagram knows there are lots of scammers on the site. I’d had several people try and impersonate my friends, sending me links and asking for verification codes all for the sake of stealing my account and holding it ransom but fortunately I never fell for it. One of the main methods they used was texting a verification code to your phone number. Fortunately at the time I only ever really followed people whom I knew that already had my phone number. This meant immediate red flags would go up and eventually after I’d seen the same scam about ten times I always knew exactly when to stop talking and block them. Ultimately staying cautious and making sure to contact whoever you’re talking to through multiple means is the best way to stay safe, especially when it comes to your personal info. It’s a shame these scams still continue to happen so much but as long as you prepare for it with some well placed skepticism you’ll be just fine.
